Blues Rock Guitar Lessons – Kings: Jimmy Page – Andy Aledort – Good Times Breakdown 1

Written on August 9th, 2010 by larryno shouts

FULL COURSE: truefire.com More blues rock guitar lessons: www.truefire.com On Twitter – http On Facebook – www.truefire.com Jimmy Page is the third essential British blues guitarist, following in the footsteps of Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, to have emerged from the seminal blues/rock/proto-metal aggregation known as the Yardbirds. After the original Yardbirds fell apart, Jimmy gigged with a band he called the New Yardbirds, who soon changed their name to Led Zeppelin. Like Clapton and Beck, Page was deeply influenced by the American blues guitar masters BB king, Albert King, Buddy Guy and Otis Rush, but Jimmy spun these influences into a style much less polished and much more raw; in the early days, what he lacked in technical brilliance he more than made up for in spirit and intensity (by Zeppelin III, however, Page’s facility rivaled that of Clapton and Beck). Like his compatriots, he favors minor pentatonic and blues scales when soloing, which is the case with this excerpt played in his style. The riffs here are primarily based on E minor pentatonic (EGABD) and the E Blues scale (EGA Bb BD).

Guitar Lessons for Beginners – How to Play 1000 Songs – Day #2: A Major Chord

FULL COURSE: su.pr More guitar lessons for beginners: www.truefire.com On Twitter www.twitter.com On Facebook: www.truefire.com Today we will learn our first chord, A Major, and a basic strum pattern. You might be surprised to hear that there are songs that use only one chord! While guitar players may differ on the “most correct” way to finger and strum any one chord, you’ll get the most out of this course by following my suggestions and recommendations. Don’t be confused by the white lines on the outer edges of my guitar–it may look like an additional string in certain camera angles. Also, it’s normal for your fingers to hurt at the beginning. This will go away with practice, but that is also why it is important to keep our practice sessions short for now. Let’s start making music!

Guitar Lessons for Beginners – How to Play 1000 Songs – Day #1: Holding the Guitar

Written on June 2nd, 2010 by larryno shouts

FULL COURSE: truefire.com More guitar lessons for beginners: www.truefire.com On Twitter: www.twitter.com On Facebook: www.truefire.com Today we’re going to work on proper posture and hand positions when playing guitar (lefties–don’t forget that when I say “right,” that means left for you, and vice versa). Sometimes a simple adjustment to your body helps break through barriers that may be preventing you from getting the sound you desire. We are all shaped a little differently, so make small adjustments that help you physically relax and feel comfortable. Pay special attention to forming good habits right from day one. Only then can you be sure to please your ear with your talent! Additionally, I’ll show you how to easily tune your guitar. You should begin each day’s lesson by setting up your posture and hand positions, and then getting in tune. I’ll also talk a little about song keys. Remember that the goal of this course is to quickly enable you to play guitar and sing along on your own or with your friends. Playing along with your favorite recordings might be difficult at first, but that will surely change as you become more proficient.
